What we do

The objectives of the North Cumberland

Historical Society are as follows:

  • to collect, archive, publish, and make available historical and genealogical information of the North Cumberland area to the public.

  • to provide a research facility for genealogists, historians, and other researchers.

The society has a collection of family files,

research reference materials, maps, ledgers,

roll books, charts, and photos.

Genealogical Research

If your roots are in the North Cumberland region of Nova Scotia,  we may have genealogy information that can help you. A volunteer will make that material available to you if you come in, or answer your specific questions if you are writing us from away. Don't be surprised if we ask you to share your material with us in return!!

Historical Research

Have a question or an interest?  If we can't find the answer in our material, we can usually find a person who has the information you require.  Have some history or stories to share?  Tell us and we can put them on facebook or on our website.

If you are researching North Cumberland County history or North Cumberland County genealogy, check out and click the tabs above. This site is only as good as its information.  If you have anything of interest about the history or genealogy of Wentworth, Appleton, Lower Greenville, Streetridge, Victoria, Conns Mills, Middleboro, Malagash Station, Malagash, Wallace Station, Wallace, Fox Harbour, Fountain Road, Pugwash Junction, Northport, Linden, Carrington, Riverview, Port Howe, Port Philip or Pugwash, please email us and share.  Not sure if your interest is in our territory?  Check out the map under About Us.
