What We Do

The North Cumberland Historical Society strives to collect, archive, publish, and make available historical and genealogical information of the North Cumberland area to the public.

To this end, the Historical Society has a number of collections that are open to the public, including:  Audio interviews, family files, genealogical charts, general history files, maps, school ledgers, photos, and a reference library full of resources connected to the local area.

Genealogy & History Research

Are you interested in your family history or perhaps have a specific question or research interest? If your roots are in the North Cumberland region of Nova Scotia, we may have information that can help or be able to  connect you with someone who can. When you plan a visit, a volunteer will help you navigate and access our collections. For those who write us from away, volunteers are here to try and answer your questions as time and capacity permit.

Do you have some history or stories of the local area or people that you want to share? Tell us and we can put them on Facebook to help spread the history.
